This is Ben last May. Allen and Traci had sent the kids a package from New Mexico with some fun spring toys. Ben received a Frisbee and since he didn't know how to throw it, he hid behind it.

Saturday Again...

What do you do on a cold, long, Saturday with nothing to do, when you don't feel well and don't want to really do anything? Watch Gone With The Wind of course! As a girl growing up, we were allowed to watch cartoons until 8:30. Then the channel was changed to Turner Classic Movies for the entire day (unless is was baseball season and the Giants were on). I grew up watching the classics, which at the time I though was boring, but I grew to appreciate them. I loved the musicals like My Fair Lady and The Sound of Music. Today was sort of reminicent of my childhood and I enjoyed watching the 3 1/2 hour movie with my mom. The kids played in the house and the girls paid attention at the beginning to the funny dresses. A very relaxing, enjoyable morning.

Tahoe 2009

Every February we try to go up to my family's cabin in Lake Tahoe. We had invited a few friends this year, but things came up, so we headed up alone! Living in trailer, this is in no means a bad thing. Having a little space was wonderful! The kids had a blast playing in the snow. We went sledding for about an hour before they were done (cold and tired, didn't take long!). The only issue was the traffic up and back. 5 hours from our house in Tahoe to Sacramento! YUCK! But we still had a great time. Hopefully next year we can get some friends up there. Any takers?

After our hour long sledding adventure, we decided just to stay close to home to play in the snow.
The kids ate icicles, snow, and Brent made a snow fort for them to play in.

I love moments like this when my kids are playing together nicely and really honestly seem to like each other. This picture of Ben and Hannah warms my heart. These two are very close in age and don't get along very often, but when they do they are just so loving and cute.
(I'm hording pictures like these so when they are teenagers and swear that they can't stand each other, I can pull these out and remember that yes, they truly do like each other.)

Where did my little boy go?

I took these pictures of Ben one Sunday after Church. He just looked so grown up to me! I kept wondering where the time went. When Ben was born Brent had just graduated from the Police Academy and was about to start his job with Antioch. Since then we have had quite a few ups and downs, but Ben has always been such a joy. I know he is a boy who can find trouble quicker than I can blink, but he is always just so happy. I love you buddy!

Awe

100 Days of First Grade

Dani had to make a project for celebrating 100 days of school. She had to put 100 of the same object on a poster and present it to her class. She first wanted to make a horse out of 100 popcycle sticks. When this turned out to be too hard, Brent helped her make this mountain scene. I had glitter glue in my craft bin (that I bought 8 years ago when I started teaching) and the girls used the glitter glue to "color the sticks." It turned out really good and her teacher even put it in the office to display! We were so proud of Danielle and Daddy for working together to create such a cool project.

What a Blessing!

The first of February my niece Addison was blessed in New Mexico. Brent and my brother-in-law Craig decided to "suicide it" leaving Friday night, arriving Saturday morning, blessing Addie Sunday morning and then getting back in the car to drive home. (They did make it ok getting home around 12:30am). They were so glad that they went though! Brent said he was really glad to have been there. His brother Allen has always made it for our kids blessings, so he really wanted to be there for Allen and his family.

Busy Busy Busy

We have been oober busy. (I love that word.) It seems my days fly by with errands, LAUNDRY, work, and now T-ball practice that I don't realize how many days it has been since I last made a post! There actually isn't too much to tell.
Danielle is excited to be playing softball and I think I'll enjoy being a coach. We had our first practice today, and of course I over planned/organized everything. I got there 20 minutes early so that I would have everything ready when they got there. We warmed up for 15 minutes and then the girls (11 showed, but I have 15 in all) rotated through the 4 stations I had set up. T-ball is wonderful because no parent allows their 4-6 year old go to practice by themselves, so I pulled 4 parents into helping out at the stations and it went great! The girls were engaged, excited, and happy the whole rest of the hour. I'm having practices twice a week until we start games and then we will have a game Saturday, one during the week, and one practice. Coaching is sort of like mini-teaching and I find myself really enjoying it. The best part is, most of the parents are really involved (hey, they signed their kid up so they want them to try it out), I only have to do it really a few hours a week, and there isn't hardly ANY paperwork! Way easier than teaching if you ask me. There is that whole money thing with teaching, but coaching for free is so much easier!

The store has been super busy and I hardly get to see Brent. I'm very proud of him though and try to be as supportive as I can. He puts in a lot of late nights, goes in early, and always puts in a few hours on his day off. It's paying off though and the store is doing well.
I have been spending a lot of my alone time reading again. I've been reading 1-2 books a week and find it relaxing. A perk of living in the trailer with not much else to do!
