Terrific Tweens

Meet the TERRIFIC TWEENS!

These four girls are all 8 and are starting to (how do I put this nicely...) branch out and test their boundaries. As their mothers are all friends, we decided to make a little group that got together about once a month and discussed with the girls topics that we though were relevant for this time of growing and changing for them. As it was my idea, I got to go first. I'm in charge of Emotions and Friendship (other topics are Respect/Manners, Health/Grooming, Puberty/Body Image).

Our first meeting I read the story "The Way I Feel" by Janan Cain. We then talked about what makes us feel each emotion, what do our faces or others faces look like when they feel them, etc. We made cookies faces to look like an emotion and the other girls had to guess. Then we played "Guess My Emotion."  The girls had a great time, it only took 1 hour, and we hope to get them thinking a little more about their behaviors.

Quote of the moment

The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of
everything. .... They just make the best of everything."
